Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) is coming to town Friday, joining Nida Allam's campaign to rally voters ahead of the March 3 primary election in NC-04. "At a time when oligarchs and corporate interests continue to capture our government, we need true progressives to take our country back for working Americans," said Sanders. Sanders and Allam will convene thousands of guests at the Durham County Convention Center for a speaking program of progressive champions, kicking off with performances from indie musician and Carrboro native, Eliza McLamb and guitarist and composer, Yasmin Williams. "Ten years ago, Bernie inspired me to get into politics in the first place — he helped me see that there was a place for working people on the national stage," said Allam. "Today, we take his movement to a whole new level, rallying together for a brighter future in our district and across the country."
